We work with MAEC-appointed sworn translators. We are not affiliated with any Spanish authority.
Bilingual Arabic–French certificates often take 24–48 hours, and you receive a digitally signed PDF with names that follow your passport.
In Spain, when an office asks for an official or "certified" translation, it means a sworn translation (traducción jurada) by a MAEC-appointed translator. It is official without further legalisation, under Real Decreto 724/2020. There are about 59 Arabic sworn translators (official register, August 2026), against about 3,770 for English. That is why we give you a firm delivery date in the quote, before you pay.
How are Arabic names written in a Spanish translation?
An Arabic name has no single Latin spelling, so it must be transliterated. The sworn translator follows the spelling in your passport and compares every name with it. Where the document's own Latin text spells a name differently, the translator adds a note instead of choosing silently.
| Original | Sworn translation (Spanish) |
|---|---|
| الاسم: محمد | Nombre: Mohamed |
| الاسم العائلي: العلوي | Apellido: El Alaoui |
| French text on the same certificate: ALAOUI Mohammed | N. del T.: en la versión francesa del documento figura «ALAOUI Mohammed». |
Send your passport photo page with every order. One translator then uses one spelling across your whole family file.
Which Arabic documents need a traducción jurada in Spain?
Spain most often asks for Arabic birth certificates, marriage contracts, criminal record certificates and kafala documents. They support arraigo, family reunification and nationality files, and many regularisation files from 2026. Each must carry its apostille or legalisation first. Then the document and its stamps are translated together.
Arabic documents most often go into family reunification sworn translation, arraigo sworn translation and Spanish nationality sworn translation. People who applied in the 2026 regularisation can see regularisation renewal sworn translation. Abogados de extranjería and gestorías filing for clients can use our service for law firms and gestorías.
Arabic birth certificate translation to Spanish
For Moroccan births, Spanish offices generally want the full copy (copie intégrale), not an extract. The Spanish translation of a Moroccan Arabic birth certificate covers every line, stamp and the apostille. The same applies to an Algerian or Egyptian birth certificate: the translation covers the full record. Details: birth certificate sworn translation into Spanish.
Arabic marriage contract translation to Spanish
A marriage contract is translated in full, including every signature, stamp and seal, plus its apostille or legalisation. More on marriage certificate sworn translation into Spanish; for a later divorce ruling, see divorce decree sworn translation into Spanish.
Arabic criminal record translation to Spanish
Morocco's version is the fiche anthropométrique; check your consulate's current checklist for how recent it must be. Inside Spain, validity is set by each office, commonly 3 to 6 months. Details: police clearance sworn translation into Spanish.
How are Hijri dates shown in the translation?
Some Arabic documents give dates in the Hijri calendar, sometimes beside the Gregorian date. The sworn translator renders each date exactly as written. Where both calendars appear, both are translated. The translation never adds a date the document does not contain, so it stays faithful to the original.
If your document shows only a Hijri date, the sworn translation for Spain shows only that date, rendered exactly as written. Any question about conversion is for the office receiving it.
Why must kafala not be translated as adoption?
A kafala is not an adoption, and the translation must not imply one. The Consulate General of Spain in Agadir states: "una kafala no es una adopción ni puede llegar a serlo". Source: Consulate General in Agadir, kafala notice, 12 October 2026. Writing "adopción" would give it a meaning it lacks.
Arabic kafala translation to Spanish
The sworn translator keeps the term kafala and translates the rest of the document faithfully. That includes the court or authority, the people named and the conditions written in it. We translate; we give no legal advice on what a kafala allows in Spain.
Which Arab countries' documents need an apostille or legalisation for Spain?
Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria use the apostille; the HCCH table lists Algeria in force from 9 July 2026. Egypt and Syria are not parties to the Apostille Convention, so their documents need legalisation. The table sets out each route before translation, based on the HCCH status table and the Spanish missions.
| Country | Route before translation | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Morocco | Apostille, since 14 August 2016 | Courts or provincial authorities; see Moroccan documents sworn translation for Spain |
| Algeria | Apostille, in force 9 July 2026 (HCCH) | Only documents from the ministries Algeria announced (Radio Algérie); check yours |
| Tunisia | Apostille, since 30 March 2018 | Ask the issuing office |
| Egypt | Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then the Spanish Embassy in Cairo | USD 8 per document (embassy notice) |
| Syria | Legalisation | Ask the Spanish consulate for the current chain before you start |
The Cairo embassy does not legalise translated documents. Legalise the Egyptian original first, then order the Spanish translation. Background: apostille before sworn translation. For both steps in one order, see apostille and sworn translation.
Urdu uses an Arabic-based script but is a different language. An Arabic sworn translator cannot certify an Urdu nikah nama. See Pakistani documents sworn translation for Spain and sworn translation into Spanish from any language.

How long does an Arabic to Spanish sworn translation take?
An Arabic certificate of 1–2 pages takes 3–4 working days, because Arabic has fewer sworn translators than English or French. Files of 3–10 pages take 5–7 working days. Bilingual Moroccan documents with a complete French text often take 24–48 hours, through a French sworn translator. Your quote states the exact delivery date before you pay.
| Arabic document | Usual turnaround | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Birth or criminal record certificate | 3–4 working days | from €39 |
| Bilingual Arabic–French certificate (French text complete) | 24–48 hours | from €29, as a French translation |
| Marriage contract | 3–4 working days; 5–7 for 3–10 pages | from €39 |
| Kafala or court document | 5–7 working days for 3–10 pages | from €59 |
These are starting prices. For your final price, send your details through the quote form. We email you a written quotation, and work starts only after you approve it. Urgent delivery is available on request, subject to translator availability.
As an indicative market range, sworn translations in Spain cost about €30–120 a page. That is roughly €30–80 for the first page and €15–40 for later pages (Cronoshare, January 2026). This is a market range, not our price. Prices for every document are in the full price table. You can get a fixed quote for your Arabic documents from a phone photo.

What does a certified Arabic to Spanish translation look like?
It is a Spanish document that follows your original line by line, read left to right. Each stamp, seal and signature is described where it appears. The translator's certification, signature and seal close it, and a sealed, dated copy of your original is attached.
Your quote names your Arabic to Spanish sworn translator. Check them in the MAEC Buscador-STIJ. The official title is traductor jurado de árabe. We work online, so it makes no difference whether you live in Madrid, Barcelona or Almería.
Frequently asked questions
Will my Arabic name be spelled as in my passport?
Yes, where you send your passport. The translator uses its Latin spelling and adds a note where the document spells the name differently.
Do you translate both Arabic and French on bilingual documents?
It depends on the office. Where the French text is complete, translating the French alone is often enough and faster. For degree homologation, only one language is needed. If the texts differ, or the office wants both, we quote both. See French to Spanish sworn translation.
Can the Moroccan consulate in Spain translate my documents instead?
For Extranjería, yes. Hoja 61 accepts translations by the issuing country's consulate in Spain. These must then be apostilled or legalised by MAEC. A MAEC sworn translation needs no further step.
Can I send photos of my Arabic documents from Cairo or Algiers?
Yes. Clear photos or scans of every page, including the apostille or legalisation, are enough. The signed PDF arrives by email.
How do I order a sworn translation of my Arabic documents?
Send clear photos or scans of each page, the apostille or legalisation stamps and your passport photo page. We never need originals. Your quote shows one total and a delivery date. Nothing starts until you accept.
