Three steps from Dakar to Spain: 1. Request the extrait de naissance, copie littérale or casier judiciaire → 2. Apostille at Senegal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs → 3. Sworn translation into Spanish
We are not affiliated with Senegal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Consulate General of Spain in Dakar, BLS or any Spanish authority.
In Spanish this is a traducción jurada de francés a español, and it also suits the Spanish Consulate General in Dakar. Upload scans from Spain or Senegal; originals are never needed.
En français : traduction assermentée en espagnol de vos documents sénégalais (extrait de naissance, casier judiciaire, acte de mariage). Apostille au ministère des Affaires étrangères à Dakar, puis traduction jurée en 24 à 48 h, à partir de 29 € par certificat.
Many Senegalese nationals live in Spain. Typical files are arraigo, family reunification, nationality and residence renewals. Other routes: documents from every country we cover.
Living in Spain? Getting Senegalese certificates apostilled from here
You can obtain Senegalese documents while living in Spain, but both the certificate and the apostille come from Senegal. The usual route is a relative or trusted person in Dakar. They collect the certificate, take it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the apostille and send you a scan.
| Step from Spain | What happens | Check first |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Someone in Senegal requests the document | Civil status office for birth or marriage; court registry (greffe) for the casier judiciaire | What authorisation the office asks for when you are not there in person |
| 2. Apostille in Dakar | Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dakar | The Senegal MFA apostille page for the current fee |
| 3. Scan to us | Every page, apostille included | Nothing; originals stay with you |
Ask the Senegalese consulate in Spain whether it can help with civil-status copies. Hoja 61 also accepts a translation by your country's consulate in Spain, which then needs MAEC legalisation. We do not request Senegalese documents for you; we translate them once the apostille is on.
How do I apostille Senegalese documents for Spain?
You apostille Senegalese documents for Spain at Senegal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dakar. The Apostille Convention entered into force for Senegal on 23 March 2023. The ministry began issuing apostilles on 3 April 2023. No Spanish legalisation follows.
The one fact that matters: since 2023, the Senegal apostille for Spain replaces the old two-step legalisation. Get the apostille first, then the sworn translation.
| Step | Where | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Request the certificate | Civil status office or court registry (greffe) | Ask for fresh copies; the visa checklist wants them issued within 3 months |
| 2. Apostille | Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dakar (HCCH status table) | Check the current fee on the ministry's apostille page |
| 3. Translation into Spanish | French sworn translator, working from your scans | Each certificate in 24–48 hours, apostille page included |
We translate the apostille together with the document, as Spanish offices expect. The reason for this order is explained in apostille before or after translation. Where we can cover both steps, see apostille and sworn translation.
Does the Spanish consulate in Dakar still legalise documents?
No. The Consulate General of Spain in Dakar suspended legalisation of Senegalese documents once the Apostille Convention took effect in Senegal. Its notice of 18 July 2024 confirms this. Senegalese public documents now need only the Senegal MFA apostille before translation.
The same consulate notice says the consulate still legalises Gambian documents. Older guides that describe a consulate stamp for Senegalese papers are out of date.
Which Senegalese documents need translating?
Every Senegalese public document you file with a Spanish office needs a Spanish translation, because these documents are written in French. The most requested are the extrait de naissance, the copie littérale, the casier judiciaire and the marriage certificate. Each goes to the translator with its apostille.
| Senegalese document | Spanish name | Often used for |
|---|---|---|
| Extrait d'acte de naissance | Certificado de nacimiento en extracto | Family reunification, visas |
| Copie littérale d'acte de naissance | Certificado literal de nacimiento | Nationality, Registro Civil, reunification |
| Extrait du bulletin n°3 du casier judiciaire | Certificado de antecedentes penales | Visas (over-16s), arraigo, nationality |
| Acte de mariage | Certificado de matrimonio | Reunification, Registro Civil files |
Senegal extrait de naissance apostille for Spain
The family reunification checklist of the Spanish consulate asks for both the extract and the full copy. Both need the Senegal MFA apostille. Both must be issued no more than three months before your appointment (BLS Senegal checklist). Translation: birth certificate sworn translation.
Senegal casier judiciaire apostille for Spain
The bulletin n°3 is usually requested from the court registry linked to your place of birth; check the current route locally. For visas, the consulate checklist wants it "legalizado y traducido" for applicants over 16 (since 2023, the apostille replaces legalisation). It must be issued within three months of the appointment. Translation: police clearance certificate sworn translation.
Marriage certificates follow the same apostille route. See marriage certificate sworn translation.
Can Senegal's foreign ministry translate my documents instead of a sworn translator?
It depends on where you file. For the visa stage, the consulate's checklist also accepts translations by Senegal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For procedures inside Spain, a MAEC sworn translation is the safe route. Extranjería's Hoja 61 lists the accepted routes.
A traducción jurada is signed and sealed by a MAEC-appointed translator. It needs no further legalisation anywhere in Spain, which is why residents use it for files inside Spain.
What mistakes hold up Senegalese files in Spain?
Common mistakes, and how to avoid them:
- Old certificates. Request birth copies and the casier judiciaire last, close to your appointment.
- Name spellings. We check every name against the passport and add a translator's note where spellings differ.
- Missed deadlines. A requerimiento gives you 10 working days (días hábiles) to reply (Ley 39/2015, article 68). Our correction notice sworn translation page explains how we handle it.
- Unofficial appointment sellers. Book visa appointments only through the official BLS Senegal website or the consulate.

How much does a sworn translation of Senegalese documents cost in CFA francs?
We charge in euros, and your card or bank converts from CFA francs. Your quote is a single total. It also shows the delivery date. Spanish sworn translators set their fees freely, with no official tariff. So the total for your whole set matters more than any page rate.
As an indicative market range, sworn translations in Spain cost about €30–120 a page: roughly €30–80 for the first page and €15–40 for later pages (Cronoshare, January 2026). This is a market range, not our price.
| Item | Price (€) | Standard turnaround |
|---|---|---|
| Extrait or copie littérale de naissance | From €29 | 24–48 hours |
| Casier judiciaire (bulletin n°3) | From €29 | 24–48 hours |
| Acte de mariage | From €29 | 24–48 hours |
| Family set | From €29 per certificate | Confirmed in your quote |

Which Spanish procedure are you preparing with Senegalese documents?
Senegalese documents most often support arraigo, family reunification, nationality or a visa from Dakar. Whichever file you prepare, the certificates carry the MFA apostille and a sworn Spanish translation. The list below adds the point that matters most for each procedure when your papers come from Senegal.
- Arraigo: a criminal record certificate from each country you lived in during the last 5 years. Arraigo sworn translation
- 2026 regularisation: the application window under Real Decreto 316/2026 closed on 30 June 2026. Permits last one year, so renewals fall due from 2027. Regularisation renewal sworn translation

- Nationality: the birth certificate and criminal record, apostilled and translated. Spanish nationality sworn translation
