What does an official sworn translation of a transcript look like?

An official sworn translation of a transcript reproduces every row of the original in Spanish. Subject names, hours or credits, grades, the grading key, seals and signatures all appear. The translator adds a certification, seal, signature and MAEC number. The layout follows the original, so reviewers can compare both.

Sample: Transcript with apostille beside its sworn Spanish translation; subject table aligned; seal and signature on every page;
Sample: Transcript with apostille beside its sworn Spanish translation; subject table aligned; seal and signature on every page;. Personal data blurred. The certification follows RD 724/2020.

The sworn translation is official and valid in Spain without further legalisation. In Spain, when an office asks for an official or "certified" translation, it means a sworn translation (traducción jurada) by a MAEC-appointed translator. For homologation, the Ministry accepts a translation by a MAEC-appointed sworn translator, the route that needs no further legalisation.

How much does an academic transcript sworn translation cost?

An academic transcript sworn translation is priced per page, from €29 per page. You agree one fixed total before you pay. Standard delivery is 2–5 working days. The apostille or legalisation page is translated with the transcript.

Service What it covers Price Turnaround
Standard Transcript plus apostille or legalisation, per page From €29 per page 2–5 working days
Express Same document +30% for 24-hour delivery; +60% for same day (min. €25 extra) Confirmed in your quote, by page count
Transcript and degree Transcript plus degree certificate €29 per transcript page, plus €29 for the degree 2–5 working days
Transcript and syllabus Transcript plus full syllabus €29 per transcript page, plus €22 per syllabus page (10% off for 10+ pages) 3–5 working days

These are starting prices. For your final price, send your details through the quote form. We email you a written quotation, and work starts only after you approve it. Prices shown are for English, French, Italian, Portuguese and German. Arabic, Russian, Ukrainian and Romanian start from €39 per certificate. Chinese, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali and other languages start from €49. A tracked paper copy by courier within Spain costs €9.

As an indicative market range, sworn translations in Spain cost about €30–120 a page. That is roughly €30–80 for the first page and €15–40 for later pages (Cronoshare, January 2026). This is a market range, not our price. Sworn translators set their fees freely; there is no official tariff. To compare documents, see our fixed prices, or get a fixed quote for your transcript by uploading the pages.

Urgent academic transcript translation Spanish

Standard delivery for a transcript is 2–5 working days, because each subject row is checked. If your deadline is sooner, enter the date when you upload. Faster options are on our urgent sworn translation page.

How are transcript pages counted for price?

Every transcript page that carries text or stamps counts as one page. That includes the back page with the grading key and the apostille or legalisation page. Separate semester mark sheets count one by one. Your quote lists each page before you pay, so the total does not change.

A transcript printed entirely in two languages needs only one of them translated for homologation. That reduces the work, not the number of source pages.

What must my transcript show for Spain?

For homologation, your transcript must show the official length of the programme, the subjects passed and the workload of each. The rule is Real Decreto 889/2022, article 13.1.d. Workload means hours or ECTS credits per subject. Without it, the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities can ask for more documents.

Source: Real Decreto 889/2022, article 13.1.d (BOE). Last checked: 1 October 2026.

If your mark sheets do not show hours or credits per subject, ask your university for a certificate stating hours or credits per subject. We translate that certificate with the transcript.

Which transcript does each country issue for Spain?

An official transcript translation for Spain starts with the right local document, apostilled or legalised first. For Indian and Pakistani students, that usually means a mark sheet translation into Spanish, one sheet per semester.

Country What to prepare Route before translation
India Consolidated or semester mark sheets from the university or board State attestation, then MEA apostille
Pakistan Transcript HEC attestation, then MOFA apostille (IBCC covers school certificates only)
Philippines Transcript of records CHED CAV, then DFA apostille
Nigeria Transcript Usually Federal Ministry of Education verification. Then MFA Abuja, then the Spanish Embassy in Abuja or the Consulate General in Lagos, depending on your state
UK Academic transcript FCDO apostille
USA Official transcript State Secretary of State apostille
China Transcript (成绩单) Notarisation, then MFA or provincial apostille

Each country link explains how to get and apostille documents from there, including while you live in Spain. For homologation, the Ministry says UK and US documents must be apostilled whatever their issue date. Transcripts in Chinese go through our Chinese to Spanish sworn translation service. For the apostille step itself, see apostille and sworn translation.

What should I send for a transcript sworn translation?

Send a clear scan or photo of every transcript page, front and back, plus the apostille or legalisation. Add your passport photo page so we can check your name. Tell us the purpose and your deadline. Originals are never needed, and nothing is posted unless an office insists on paper.

  • Every page and every back page. Grading keys are often printed on the back.
  • The apostille or legalisation. It is translated with the transcript.
  • Your passport. If the transcript spells your name differently, the translator keeps its wording and adds a translator's note.
  • Any certificate of hours or credits. It is translated in the same order.

Transcripts in English are handled through our English to Spanish sworn translation service.

Which Spanish procedures need a sworn transcript translation?

Spain asks for a transcript when your studies decide your right to practise, study or have a degree recognised. The main cases are degree homologation, nurse registration and university admission. In each, the transcript is apostilled or legalised first, then sworn-translated into Spanish with every stamp.

Academic transcript sworn translation for homologation

The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities accepts a sworn translator appointed by the MAEC. Its translations page states that translations do not expire. The fee, filing and timeline are on our degree homologation Spain translation page; Indian graduates can see Indian degree homologation in Spain.

Academic transcript sworn translation for nurse registration

Nurses trained abroad homologate their nursing degree, so the transcript must show hours or credits for each subject. Nursing also needs a B2 Spanish certificate. See nurse homologation Spain translation.

Academic transcript sworn translation for university admission in Spain

Each Spanish university sets its own admission rules. If yours asks for the transcript, we translate every page with the apostille and grading key. Your visa file may use it too: Spain student visa sworn translation.

Other documents in these files have their own pages. See degree certificate sworn translation into Spanish, police clearance certificate sworn translation and bank statement sworn translation.

When is a syllabus needed as well?

A syllabus is needed when the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities asks for it. Under Real Decreto 889/2022, the Ministry can request extra documents, including syllabi (programas). Nursing applicants should be ready in case the Ministry asks for the syllabus. A full syllabus takes 3–5 working days to translate.

Ask your university for the official syllabus early, as it is often long. See syllabus translation for Spain.

Why are transcript translations rejected, and how do we prevent it?

Each transcript is checked against these points before the seal is applied:

  • Translated before the apostille. We translate only once the apostille is on. Background: apostille before sworn translation.
  • Grades converted. Sworn translators translate grades exactly. They never convert them.
  • Subject names paraphrased. The translator keeps official names, so they match your degree.
  • Back page left out. Grading keys and stamps are translated and sealed with the front.
  • Unverified translator. Check the name and MAEC number in the official MAEC search (Buscador-STIJ).

Before you send your expediente: what students check

A transcript can run to a dozen semester sheets, so a single missed page means a Ministry request months later. These answers cover who translates it and what happens if something goes wrong.

  • Is the translator real? Every translator we work with is a sworn translator-interpreter appointed by Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAEC), listed on its official register. Our guide shows how to verify a Spanish sworn translator from the seal.
  • What if the Ministry finds a missing semester or grading key? Free, prioritised re-issue if rejected on formal grounds. Read what happens if a translation is rejected.
  • Is my data safe? Your transcript and passport are deleted within 7 days of delivery, under our privacy policy.
  • Ministry deadline close? A requerimiento gives 10 working days (días hábiles) under Ley 39/2015, art. 68. See our urgent sworn translation options.

Frequently asked questions

Is an expediente académico the same as a transcript?

Yes, in practice. A Spanish university calls your transcript the expediente académico or certificado académico personal; a certificado de notas is the everyday name. All list your subjects and grades. We translate your foreign transcript into Spanish under whichever name the office uses.

Can I translate only the final-year transcript?

Usually not for homologation. The Ministry asks for the subjects passed across the programme, with hours or credits for each. Other offices may need less, so check their checklist.

Do grading scales get converted?

No. Sworn translators translate grades exactly as written. "Equivalencia de la nota media" is a separate, free, online Ministry procedure.

Can I get my transcript translated online for Spain?

Yes. Upload scans of every page and the apostille. You receive a digitally signed PDF, with paper by courier if an office insists.

Is a certified transcript translation from my own country accepted?

Usually not. A certified translation made outside Spain, for example by a UK or US translator, is not a sworn translation. Most Spanish offices won't accept it. A MAEC sworn translation needs no further step, so it works for homologation and visas alike. See sworn vs certified translation.

Can you translate a transcript that is several pages long in one order?

Yes. Each page is counted and listed in your quote, and one translator handles the whole set.

How do I order a sworn translation of my transcript?

Upload a scan of every transcript page, the back pages and the apostille, with your purpose and deadline. We count the pages and check the apostille and your name. You then see a fixed price and delivery date before you pay anything. Other papers for your file are under every document we translate.
