How a sworn Spanish degree translation is laid out
The translation keeps the order of the original. The degree title, class or division, university name, seals, signatures, registration numbers and the apostille are all rendered in Spanish. Each page carries the translator's seal, signature and MAEC number.
How much does a degree certificate sworn translation cost?
There is no official tariff; sworn translators in Spain set their own fees. Ours is one fixed total from €29 for the degree certificate and its apostille, delivered in 24–48 hours. Adding the academic transcript takes 2–5 working days. You see the total, the delivery date and the translator before you pay.
| Service | What it covers | Price | Turnaround |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Degree certificate plus apostille or legalisation | From €29 | 24–48 hours |
| Express | Same document | +30% for 24-hour delivery; +60% for same day (min. €25 extra) | Same day if paid by 12:00 Spanish time, or 24 hours |
| Degree and transcript | Degree certificate plus academic transcript | €29 for the degree, plus €29 per transcript page | 2–5 working days |
| Extra pages | Back page, annexes, attestation stamps | Confirmed in your written quotation | Same as order |
These are starting prices. For your final price, send your details through the quote form. We email you a written quotation, and work starts only after you approve it. Prices shown are for English, French, Italian, Portuguese and German. Arabic, Russian, Ukrainian and Romanian start from €39 per certificate. Chinese, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali and other languages start from €49. A tracked paper copy by courier within Spain costs €9.
The apostille is always translated together with the degree, as Spanish offices expect.
As an indicative market range, sworn translations in Spain cost about €30–120 a page. That is roughly €30–80 for the first page and €15–40 for later pages (Cronoshare, January 2026). This is a market range, not our price. Compare every document on our sworn translation price list, or get a fixed quote for your degree certificate today.
Urgent degree certificate translation Spanish

Which degree certificate does Spain want?
Spain wants the degree certificate issued by your university. For homologation, RD 889/2022 also accepts a certificate showing the degree has been issued (certificación acreditativa de su expedición). The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities needs an official translation of every page not in Spanish. The degree is attested or verified locally, apostilled or legalised, then translated.
In Spanish, this is a título universitario traducción jurada. Abroad it is often called a diploma translation into Spanish; the sworn route is the same.
Your degree certificate by country
| Country | What to prepare | Route before translation |
|---|---|---|
| India | University degree certificate (not laminated) | State attestation, then MEA apostille; laminated certificates can be refused |
| Pakistan | Degree certificate | HEC attestation, then MOFA apostille (IBCC covers school certificates only) |
| Philippines | Diploma and transcript of records | CHED CAV, then DFA apostille |
| Nigeria | Degree certificate | Legalisation: MFA Abuja, then the Spanish Embassy in Abuja or the Consulate General in Lagos, depending on your state |
| UK | Degree certificate | FCDO apostille; an e-Apostille may apply |
| USA | Diploma | State Secretary of State apostille |
| China | Degree certificate (学位证书) | Notarisation, then MFA or provincial apostille |
Each country name opens our guide to getting and apostilling documents from there, including while you live in Spain. For homologation, the Ministry says UK and US documents must be apostilled whatever their issue date. Apostille status per country: HCCH Apostille status table. Degrees in Chinese go through our Chinese to Spanish sworn translation service. Need the apostille step explained too? See apostille and sworn translation.
Files to send with your degree certificate
- A clear scan or photo of the front and back. Attestation stamps are often on the back.
- The apostille or legalisation page. Apostille first, then translate both together. Background: apostille before sworn translation.
- Your passport photo page. We check your name against it.
- The purpose and deadline, for example homologation or a visa appointment.
Originals are never needed. If your degree spells your name differently from your passport, the translator keeps the degree wording and adds a translator's note.
Where does Spain ask for a degree certificate?
Spain asks for a degree certificate when a qualification decides your right to study, work or practise. Most requests come from inside Spain: homologation or equivalencia at the Ministry of Science, nurse registration and university admission. Consulates ask for it on work and digital nomad visas. Each needs the degree apostilled or legalised, then sworn-translated into Spanish.
Título universitario for homologation or equivalencia
The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities accepts translations by a MAEC sworn translator, the route that needs no further legalisation. The fee, documents and timeline are on our degree homologation Spain translation page. Indian graduates can follow Indian degree homologation in Spain.
Degree certificate sworn translation for nurse registration
Nurses trained abroad usually homologate their nursing degree before they register with a colegio. The degree, transcript and often the syllabus are translated together. The colegio may also ask for a certificate of good standing in Spanish. See nurse homologation Spain translation and syllabus translation for Spain.
Degree certificate sworn translation for university admission in Spain
Spanish universities set their own document rules, so check the admissions page of yours. If your university asks for your degree, translate it with its apostille; your visa file may need it too. See Spain student visa sworn translation.
Degree certificate sworn translation for work visa
Work visa files may include a degree when the job relies on your qualification. Check your consulate's checklist for which certificates it lists. See Spain work visa sworn translation and Spanish consulate visa sworn translation.
Degree certificate sworn translation for digital nomad visa
Where your digital nomad file uses a degree to show your qualification, translate it with its apostille. Mumbai's digital nomad checklist asks for all English documents to be translated by a traductor jurado. See digital nomad visa Spain sworn translation.
Other documents in the same files have their own pages. See academic transcript sworn translation into Spanish, birth certificate sworn translation into Spanish and police clearance certificate sworn translation.
Do bilingual degree certificates need translating?
Yes, but often only one language. The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities says a document written entirely in two languages needs a Spanish translation of only one of them. For homologation, a degree printed entirely in Hindi and English can be translated from the English text alone.
If only part of the degree is bilingual, the rest still needs translating. Other offices may set their own rules, so check your checklist. Source: Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, translations. Last checked: 1 October 2026.
Where degree certificate translations go wrong
- Laminated Indian degree. The MEA may refuse to apostille it. Order a fresh copy from your university before you start.
- Provisional certificate sent. For homologation it is accepted only if it states the degree was conferred; we check the wording from your scan.
- Back page left out. Attestation stamps on the back are translated and sealed with the front.
- Degree translated before the apostille. The apostille would be left out, so we translate only once it is on the certificate.
- Degree title paraphrased. The translator keeps the official title, so it matches your transcript.
- A certified translation made abroad. A certified translation made outside Spain is not a sworn translation, and most Spanish offices won't accept it. Ours are signed by a MAEC-appointed sworn translator, listed in the MAEC search (Buscador-STIJ).
Questions graduates ask before ordering
A degree is often the one document you cannot replace quickly, especially a laminated Indian original or a Pakistani degree that took weeks at HEC. So check us before you send it.
- Is the translator real? Every translator we work with is MAEC-appointed and holds every authorisation Spain requires for sworn translation. Our guide shows how to verify a Spanish sworn translator on the official MAEC list.
- What if the Ministry queries your título translation? Free, prioritised re-issue if rejected on formal grounds; see our re-issue terms.
- Is my data safe? Your degree and passport are deleted within 7 days of delivery, under our privacy policy.
- Upload deadline soon? Homologation requests and visa appointments run on dates. See our urgent sworn translation options.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to translate the back of my degree certificate?
Yes, if it carries anything. Attestation stamps, registration numbers and signatures on the back are part of the document. We translate every page that has text or stamps, so the file matches your original.
Do you translate university seals and signatures?
Yes. The translator describes each seal and signature and translates any wording inside a seal. The apostille seal is handled the same way.
Do degree translations for homologation expire?
No. The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities states that translations do not expire. A translation accepted for your homologation file stays valid for that file. Other offices may still ask for a recent document.
Is a degree certificate certified translation from my country accepted?
Usually not. In Spain, when an office asks for an official or "certified" translation, it means a sworn translation (traducción jurada) by a MAEC-appointed translator. A certified translation made outside Spain, for example by a UK or US translator, is not a sworn translation. Most Spanish offices won't accept it, while a MAEC sworn translation needs no further legalisation. See sworn vs certified translation.
