First we check your document. Then we tell you which official route works: a MAEC-appointed sworn translator, the document's English version, or a consular translation. You get a fixed price and date before you pay. If no route exists, we tell you, and you pay nothing.
We work with MAEC-appointed sworn translators. We are not affiliated with any Spanish authority.
Which other languages can you translate into Spanish?
We can arrange a sworn translation into Spanish wherever Spain's register lists a translator for your language. Supply varies widely. The official register (August 2026) lists one Urdu sworn translator (traductor jurado de urdu) and two for Bengali. Hindi, Punjabi, Nepali, Tagalog, Tamil and Sinhala have none.
Finding a sworn translator for rare languages in Spain is hard, as the register shows:
| Language into Spanish | Sworn translators (about, August 2026) | Usual route |
|---|---|---|
| Portuguese | 37 | Direct sworn translation |
| Russian | 33 | Direct sworn translation |
| Chinese | 9 | Direct, if a translator is free |
| Ukrainian | 4 | Direct, if a translator is free |
| Bengali | 2 | English version, or quote first |
| Urdu | 1 | English version, or quote first |
| Hindi, Punjabi, Nepali, Tagalog, Tamil, Sinhala | 0 | English version, or a Hoja 61 consular route |
A low count means availability is confirmed only in your quote. Some languages have their own pages. See Russian to Spanish sworn translation (Russian ZAGS certificates need no apostille), Ukrainian to Spanish sworn translation and Chinese to Spanish sworn translation. Portuguese, including Brazilian documents, is on Portuguese to Spanish sworn translation; for the Brazilian apostille route, see Brazilian documents for Spain.
For the largest pairs, see English to Spanish sworn translation, French to Spanish sworn translation and Arabic to Spanish sworn translation. Or browse all the languages we translate into Spanish.
What if no sworn translator exists for my language?
If no MAEC sworn translator exists for your language, you have two honest options. Ask the issuing office for an official English or bilingual version, which we can translate. Or use a consular route listed in Spain's Hoja informativa 61. We never offer a shortcut around these routes.
A sworn translator certifies a "traducción fiel y completa" from the language the document is written in (Orden AEC/2125/2014). So we do not translate a Hindi text through an English copy we make ourselves. Where an official English version exists, it can be translated instead.
What are the three official translation routes in Hoja 61?
Extranjería's Hoja informativa 61 accepts three kinds of official translation. One is by a MAEC-appointed sworn translator. The other two are consular translations, which need MAEC legalisation or an apostille afterwards. In Spain, when an office asks for an official or "certified" translation, it means a sworn translation (traducción jurada) by a MAEC-appointed translator.
- A MAEC-appointed sworn translator. No further legalisation is needed.
- A Spanish embassy or consulate abroad. The translation is then legalised by MAEC.
- Your own country's embassy or consulate in Spain. The translation is then apostilled or legalised by MAEC.
The MAEC legalisation page lists the same routes. Last checked: 1 October 2026. Not every mission translates. The Spanish Embassy in New Delhi states that official sworn translations cannot be done in India. Ask the mission before you rely on routes 2 or 3.
Do Urdu, Hindi and Bengali documents usually need translating at all?
Often not from Urdu, Hindi or Bengali. Many official documents from Pakistan, India and Bangladesh are issued in English, or in English alongside the local language. In those cases a sworn translator translates the English. Only a document written solely in Urdu, Hindi or Bengali needs another route.
Spain has no sworn translator for Hindi, Punjabi or Nepali. So for Hindi, Punjabi or Nepali documents, a Spanish translation starts from an official English or bilingual version.
Urdu nikah nama translation to Spanish
Many nikah namas use the bilingual Urdu–English form. Its Urdu and English columns can still disagree, for example on dower. Whichever column is translated, the translator reproduces exactly what is written and does not reconcile the two. See marriage certificate sworn translation into Spanish and Pakistani documents sworn translation for Spain.
Urdu birth certificate translation to Spanish
Where a NADRA certificate, such as the Family Registration Certificate, carries English text, we translate that. An Urdu to Spanish sworn translation made directly depends on the one Urdu sworn translator on the register. See birth certificate sworn translation into Spanish.
Hindi documents translation for Spain
Indian certificates are often bilingual or in English. We translate the English, after the MEA apostille. If a certificate is only in Hindi or a regional language, ask the issuing office for an English version. See Indian documents sworn translation for Spain.
Bengali documents translation for Spain
Bangladesh's digital birth registration certificate has Bangla and English versions. Choose the English one. With only two Bengali sworn translators (traductores jurados de bengalí), a direct translation needs a quote first. See Bangladeshi documents sworn translation for Spain.
How do you handle documents in two languages?
For bilingual documents, we translate the language a Spanish office expects and make clear which text was translated. For degree homologation, the Ministry needs only one language of a fully bilingual document translated. For other procedures, follow your office's checklist. Tell us the procedure when you upload.
The homologation rule is on the Ministry's translations page. Names follow the document exactly. Where your passport spells a name differently, the translator adds a note.
| On the document | In the Spanish translation |
|---|---|
| Name (English column): Rukhsana Begum | Nombre: Rukhsana Begum |
| Passport: RUKHSANA BIBI | N. del T.: en el pasaporte de la titular figura «RUKHSANA BIBI». |
Which countries issue documents in these languages?
Documents in these languages mostly come from South Asia and the Philippines. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Philippines use the apostille, which comes before any translation. Nepal and Sri Lanka are not Apostille Convention parties, so they use legalisation. Each country page explains the route before translation.
| Country | Route before translation | Usual language on the document |
|---|---|---|
| India | Apostille (MEA, after state attestation) | English, or bilingual |
| Pakistan | Apostille (MOFA, since 9 March 2023) | English, or Urdu and English |
| Bangladesh | Apostille (since 30 March 2025) | Bangla and English versions |
| Philippines | Apostille (DFA, since 14 May 2019) | English |
| Nepal | Legalisation; check the route with the Spanish Embassy in New Delhi | Nepali; official English versions exist |
| Sri Lanka | Legalisation; check the current chain | Sinhala or Tamil; English copies from the Registrar General |
Status per the HCCH Apostille status table (30 June 2026).
- Philippine documents sworn translation for Spain: a Tagalog document translation is rarely needed, as PSA and NBI documents are in English.
- Sri Lankan documents sworn translation for Spain: Spain has no Sinhala or Tamil sworn translator. For a Sinhala certificate, ask the issuing office for an English version.
- Nepali documents sworn translation for Spain: legalisation. The Spanish Embassy in New Delhi covers Nepal; check the current route with the embassy.
These documents often go to Extranjería sworn translation, family reunification Spain sworn translation or Spanish nationality sworn translation. Police records go through police clearance certificate sworn translation.

How do you quote a document in a less common language?
We quote a less common language only after checking the document. We confirm the language, whether an official English version exists and whether a sworn translator is free. You then get a fixed price and a delivery date. If no route exists, we say so and charge nothing.
| Route | Turnaround | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Official English version of a certificate | 24–48 hours, as for any English certificate | from €29 |
| Direct translation from a rare language | 3–4 working days for 1–2 pages; 5–7 for 3–10 pages | from €49 |
| No route available | We tell you within the route check | Nothing to pay |
These are starting prices. For your final price, send your details through the quote form. We email you a written quotation, and work starts only after you approve it.
As an indicative market range, sworn translations in Spain cost about €30–120 a page. That is roughly €30–80 for the first page and €15–40 for later pages (Cronoshare, January 2026). This is a market range, not our price. Our prices start from €29 for an English version and €49 for rare languages; see our fixed prices for each document type. For a deadline, see urgent sworn translation. Get any apostille first: see apostille and sworn translation and apostille before sworn translation.
Rare-language orders: your concerns answered
Sending a NADRA certificate or a Bangladeshi birth record? Each sworn translator is appointed for one language pair, so these four answers matter.
- Is the translator real? Every translator we work with is a MAEC-appointed sworn translator-interpreter for that language pair, with every authorisation Spain requires. Check the seal on your translation against the official list using our guide on how to verify a sworn translator in Spain.
- What if Extranjería rejects it? Free, prioritised re-issue if rejected on formal grounds, such as a name that does not match your passport. See how a free re-issue works.
- Is my data safe? Your documents are used only for the route check and your order, then deleted within 7 days of delivery, as our privacy policy explains.
- Requerimiento or cita soon? Tell us the date. With an English version, a certificate can be ready in 24–48 hours.

Is there a sworn translator for Punjabi in Spain?
No. The official register as of August 2026 lists no Punjabi sworn translator. Ask for an English or bilingual version instead.
