How is a syllabus laid out in a sworn Spanish translation?
A sworn Spanish translation of a syllabus follows the original page by page. Each subject keeps its official name, content, hours or credits and assessment. University seals, signatures and the apostille are translated too. The MAEC-appointed sworn translator adds a certification, seal, signature and MAEC number.
Every course description, module descriptor, hour count, credit and stamp is translated, whether you live in Spain or are preparing your file from abroad.
In Spain, when an office asks for an official or "certified" translation, it means a sworn translation (traducción jurada) by a MAEC-appointed translator. It is the route Spanish offices list as needing no further legalisation. For homologation, the Ministry accepts a translator appointed by the MAEC.
How much does a syllabus sworn translation cost?
A syllabus sworn translation is priced per page, from €22 per page, with 10% off for 10 or more pages. You see one fixed total before you pay. A full syllabus takes 3–6 working days, because syllabi are long and technical. The apostille or legalisation page is translated with it.
| Service | What it covers | Price | Turnaround |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Full syllabus plus apostille or legalisation, per page | From €22 per page (10% off 10+ pages) | 3–6 working days |
| Named subjects | Only the subjects named in the Ministry's request | From €22 per page | 2–5 pages: 2–3 working days; 6–10 pages: 3–5 working days |
| Express | Short extracts of 1–2 pages | +30% for 24-hour delivery; +60% same day (min €25 extra) | 24 hours, or same day if paid by 12:00 noon (Spanish time) on a working day |
| Syllabus and transcript | Syllabus plus academic transcript | From €22 per syllabus page plus from €29 per transcript page | 3–6 working days |
These are starting prices. For your final price, send your details through the quote form. We email you a written quotation, and work starts only after you approve it.
As an indicative market range, sworn translations in Spain cost about €30–120 a page. That is roughly €30–80 for the first page and €15–40 for later pages (Cronoshare, January 2026). This is a market range, not our price. Sworn translators set their fees freely. Our page on how much a sworn translation costs compares every document. You can also get a fixed quote for your syllabus from the Ministry's request alone.
Urgent syllabus translation Spanish
Standard delivery for a full syllabus is 3–6 working days. A short extract, such as a few named subjects, can move faster. Enter your deadline when you upload. Faster options are on our urgent sworn translation page.
How can I reduce the cost of translating a syllabus?
You reduce the cost by translating only what the Ministry actually asks for, when it asks. Send the official syllabus for your own years of study. Remove duplicate pages before you upload. Never cut content the Ministry requested, because a partial reply can lead to a further request.
- Wait for the request, unless your profession usually needs it. Syllabi are not a standard document, so many applicants never need one.
- Translate the named subjects only. If the Ministry asks for specific subjects, we translate those pages.
- Use the version for your years. Universities revise syllabi, so send the one that applied to you.
- Translate one language only. A document written entirely in two languages needs only one of them translated.
We cannot promise the Ministry will not ask for more documents.
When does Spain ask for a syllabus?
Spain asks for a syllabus mainly during degree homologation, when the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities needs to compare your subjects. Under Real Decreto 889/2022, syllabi (programas) are not a standard requirement but may be requested, for example for health degrees and other regulated professions.
Article 13.1.d asks for an academic certificate showing subjects passed and the workload of each. Article 13.1.g lets the Ministry request additional documentation. Source: Real Decreto 889/2022 (BOE). Last checked: 1 October 2026.
Syllabus sworn translation for homologation
An official syllabus translation for homologation goes in with your degree file, or after a Ministry request. Applications are filed online, and the maximum time is 6 months. The Ministry's translations page says translations do not expire. See degree homologation Spain translation and Indian degree homologation in Spain.
Syllabus sworn translation for nurse registration
Nurses trained abroad homologate their nursing degree, and syllabi are commonly requested for health degrees. Nursing also needs a B2 Spanish certificate. See nurse homologation Spain translation and, for Filipino nurses, Philippine nurse documents for Spain. Our guide to nursing jobs and registration in Spain covers the wider process.
Your syllabus sits beside other documents with their own pages. See degree certificate sworn translation into Spanish and academic transcript sworn translation. Nurses applying for a work visa also need a police clearance certificate sworn translation.
What should a syllabus include for homologation?
For homologation, a syllabus should describe each subject you passed, with its content and its hours or ECTS credits. It should come from your university, on letterhead, with a seal or signature. It should match the subject names on your transcript, so the Ministry can compare them line by line.
If your syllabus does not show hours or credits per subject, ask your university for a certificate stating hours or credits per subject. We translate that certificate in the same order.
Which syllabus version should I request from my university?
Ask your university for the official syllabus that applied to your years of study, certified by the university. Each country issues it under a different name and route. Apostille or legalise it first, then send it for translation. Our apostille and sworn translation page explains coordination.
Your syllabus by country
| Country | What to request | Usual route before translation |
|---|---|---|
| India | University syllabus or curriculum, certified by the university | Attestation, then MEA apostille |
| Pakistan | University syllabus or course outlines | HEC attestation, then MOFA apostille |
| Philippines | Course descriptions | CHED CAV, then DFA apostille |
| Nigeria | University syllabus or course outlines | Usually verification first, then MFA Abuja, then the Spanish Embassy in Abuja or the Consulate General in Lagos, depending on your state |
| UK | Module descriptors | FCDO apostille |
| USA | Course catalogue descriptions | State Secretary of State apostille |
Each country link explains how to get and apostille documents from there, including while you live in Spain. For homologation, the Ministry says UK and US documents must be apostilled whatever their issue date. Why the order matters: apostille before sworn translation.
What do you need from me to translate my syllabus?
Send a clear scan or PDF of every syllabus page, plus the apostille or legalisation. Add your passport photo page and your transcript, so we can match names and subjects. Tell us whether the Ministry named specific subjects. Originals are never needed.
- Every page, including annexes. Hour tables are often at the end.
- The apostille or legalisation. It is translated with the syllabus.
- Your passport. If the syllabus spells your name differently, the translator keeps its wording and adds a translator's note.
- The Ministry's request, if you have one. It tells us exactly which subjects to translate.

What gets a syllabus translation sent back, and how do we avoid it?
Every syllabus page is checked against these points before the seal is applied:
- Subject names drift. The translator uses the same Spanish names as your transcript translation.
- Hours or credits missing. We flag it before translating, so you can ask your university.
- Translated too early. We translate once the apostille is on.
- Unverified translator. Check the seal on the translation against the official MAEC search (Buscador-STIJ).

Frequently asked questions
What is a "programa de asignaturas" in a Ministry request?
It is the Spanish name for a syllabus: the content, hours or credits and assessment of each subject. A request may also say "programas" or "plan de estudios". If your letter uses these words, the Ministry wants your university's course descriptions, apostilled and sworn-translated.
Do I translate the syllabus for every subject?
Not always. If the Ministry names specific subjects, translate those. If it asks for the full syllabus, every subject is needed.
How long does a syllabus translation take?
A full syllabus takes 3–6 working days. Shorter extracts can be faster, and your quote shows the exact delivery date.
Is a certified syllabus translation from my own country accepted?
Usually not. A certified translation made outside Spain, for example by a UK or US translator, is not a sworn translation. Most Spanish offices won't accept it. A MAEC sworn translation is accepted by the Ministry with no further step. See sworn vs certified translation.
Can I reuse my syllabus translation if I apply again?
Yes, for homologation. The Ministry states that translations do not expire, so a sworn translation of the same syllabus can be used again.
How do I send my syllabus for a sworn translation quote?
Upload every syllabus page, the apostille and any Ministry request, with your deadline. We count the pages and check the subjects against your transcript. You then see a fixed price and delivery date before you pay anything. Other papers for your file are under every document we translate.
