Checklists differ by mission, so we check yours before quoting. Upload scans from anywhere in India; originals are never needed.
Need it later in Spain? After you arrive, your student residence card (TIE), a stay extension or degree homologation each need documents in Spanish. A sworn translation is official in Spain without further legalisation, so you translate once. The New Delhi embassy seal covers the visa file only.

Which of my Indian documents need a Spanish translation?
It depends on your mission. Mumbai asks for a sworn translation of documents in a regional or foreign language, except passports and economic proof. New Delhi's checklist has no general translation line. Minors' parental authorisation must be sworn-translated at both. Public documents need the MEA apostille first.
The rules come from Spain's Estancia por estudios sheet. A Spanish admission letter needs no translation. For the full Spain student visa requirements in India, with a document checklist for India, see our guide to Spain student visa requirements in India.

Parental authorisation sworn translation for a minor's Spain student visa from India
A student under 18 needs written authorisation from both parents or guardians, stating the activity and length of stay. Proof of the relationship, usually the birth certificate, goes with it. Mumbai: the authorisation "must be translated to Spanish by a sworn translator. This requirement cannot be waived."
New Delhi: "Once legalized/ apostilled, it should [be] translated to Spanish by a sworn translator."
Police clearance certificate for Indian students who lived abroad
The criminal record certificate must cover your country of origin or each country of residence in the last 5 years. Lived in the UK or the USA? See UK documents sworn translation for Spain and US documents sworn translation for Spain.
Does my state apply through New Delhi, Mumbai or Bangalore?
It depends on your state. The Embassy in New Delhi covers the northern and eastern states, such as Delhi NCR, Punjab and Rajasthan. Mumbai covers Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Chhattisgarh and Telangana, among others. Bangalore covers Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
| Mission | States it covers | What its student checklist says about translation |
|---|---|---|
| Embassy of Spain, New Delhi | Delhi NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, UP, Bihar, West Bengal and others | No general translation line; minors' authorisation sworn-translated after apostille |
| Consulate General of Spain, Mumbai | Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu | Sworn translation for documents in a regional or foreign language, except passports and economic proof documents |
| Consulate General of Spain, Bangalore | Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry | New consulate since 31 December 2025; check its current checklist |

Do Indian bank statements and ITRs need a sworn translation for a Spain student visa?
It depends on your mission. Mumbai's student checklist exempts economic proof documents from sworn translation. New Delhi's checklist has no general translation line. Both list six months of bank statements, stamped and signed by the bank, plus three years of ITRs and six months of payslips.
Funds must reach €600 a month, equal to 100 per cent of IPREM (Ministry of Inclusion, study stay sheet).
Check whether your mission asks for financial documents in Spanish. If it does, the translation covers every statement page you file, with the bank's stamp and signature. Ask your bank whether a balance certificate is accepted by your consulate.
What timeline works for Indian students applying through BLS?
Work back from your BLS appointment, not your course start. Apostille and translate your degree and mark sheets first. Order the police clearance certificate later: validity is set by each office, commonly 3 to 6 months. Check your mission's current checklist for the window it applies.
| When | What to send | Our turnaround |
|---|---|---|
| Once you have your admission | Degree and mark sheets, once apostilled | Degree 24–48 hours; mark sheets 2–5 working days |
| After booking your BLS appointment | PCC, once apostilled | 24–48 hours |
| In the weeks before the appointment | Medical certificate; financial documents if your mission asks | 24–48 hours |

What counts as a certified Spanish translation for an Indian student visa?
In Spain, when an office asks for an official or "certified" translation, it means a sworn translation (traducción jurada) by a MAEC-appointed translator. It meets the "traductor jurado" requirement on Spanish consulate checklists in India and is official in Spain without further legalisation. A certified translation made in India is not a sworn translation. The Embassy in New Delhi states that official sworn translations cannot be done in India, so you send scans online.
That makes a sworn translation the safe choice for your visa file, and it also serves procedures inside Spain. Apostille first, then translate both together: apostille before or after translation. One order for both steps: apostille and sworn translation.
According to the official register as of August 2026, there are no Hindi sworn translators, so ask for an English version. English documents go through our English to Spanish sworn translation service.
What do we check before your Indian student visa documents are sealed?
Before the seal goes on, we check each Indian document against your mission's checklist. We confirm the MEA apostille is present, names match your passport, and every page and stamp is translated. You approve a draft of names, dates and places before the translator signs.
- Single-name passports. Singh, Kaur or a given name only can cause mismatches; the translator adds a note.
- PCC dates. We flag a PCC that may expire before your appointment.
- Financial pages. For a Spain student visa, India bank statement pages are translated only if your mission asks.

Before Indian students and parents pay us
Parents paying from Pune or Chandigarh for a translator in Spain they have never met deserve proof first. Here it is.
- Is the translator real? Every translator we work with is appointed by Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAEC) and listed on its official register. You can match the seal on your translation against that list: how to verify a Spanish sworn translator.
- What if Mumbai or New Delhi rejects the translation? Free, prioritised re-issue if rejected on formal grounds. See what happens if a translation is rejected.
- Is my data safe? Files are deleted within 7 days of delivery, as set out in our privacy policy.
- BLS appointment in a few days? See our urgent sworn translation service.
How much does a sworn translation for an Indian student visa file cost?
You pay in euros; rupee figures are a guide only. Apostille pages are included, as we translate them with each document. A MAEC-appointed sworn translator seals and signs every page.
As an indicative market range, sworn translations in Spain cost about €30–120 a page. That is roughly €30–80 for the first page and €15–40 for later pages (Cronoshare, January 2026). This is a market range, not our price.

|---|---|---|---|
| PCC or medical certificate | approx. ₹3,150 | from €29 | 24–48 hours |
| Degree certificate | approx. ₹3,150 | from €29 | 24–48 hours |

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a sponsor letter if my parents pay?
Usually, yes. The New Delhi and Mumbai checklists list a sponsor's letter or affidavit of support, with the sponsor's ID. Whether it needs translating depends on your mission.
Can I book a BLS appointment before my translations are ready?
Yes. BLS International appointments are booked online. Enter the date when you upload, and we schedule each translation to be ready before it.
Is the New Delhi embassy seal enough for my student visa?
Only for the visa file. The embassy can seal an unofficial English–Spanish translation by appointment (emb.nuevadelhi.nac@maec.es). The fee is code 24c, INR 3,431 per sheet (New Delhi embassy fee list, valid from 1 January 2026). It does not cover procedures inside Spain, such as your TIE or degree homologation. Comparison: Spanish embassy translation in India. If you will study more than a year or homologate your degree, a sworn translation saves paying twice.
Can I get my documents translated online from India for a Spain student visa?
Yes. We work from scans of your apostilled documents. You receive a digitally signed PDF.
How do I send my Indian student visa documents for a quote?
Scan every page, including each MEA apostille, and upload them with your mission and appointment date. You receive a fixed total and a delivery date before you pay. Originals are never needed. We confirm which pages your mission needs translated.
